“From Basin to sub-basin scale assessment and intercomparison of numerical simulations in the Western Mediterranean Sea” by M. Juza et al., published in Journal of Marine Systems

Mélanie Juza (SOCIB), in collaboration with Mercator-Océan (France) and INGV (Italy), published a study which describes the methodology and the results of a quantitative evaluation of hindcast simulations in the western Mediterranean Sea at basin, sub-basin and local scales using multi-platform observations. Results show that the identification of regional simulation biases is essential to advance from global to regional and local scale forecasting, in particular, improving the representation of the local physical processes and their interactions with the sub-basin dynamics and the general circulation.

The article, entitled "From basin to sub-basin scale assessment and intercomparison of numerical simulations in the Western Mediterranean Sea", has been published in May 2015 in the Journal of Marine Systems.
