SOCIB participated at the EMB-EuroGOOS Brainstorming Workshop on European Ocean Observing Systems in Brussels

SOCIB Director, Joaquín Tintoré, participated at the EMB-EuroGOOS brainstorming workshop on European Ocean Observing Systems (EOOS), as invited speaker at the session "Mechanisms to deliver an integrated and sustained European Ocean Observing System (EOOS) in situ component". This discussion meeting was held at the Belgian Science Policy Office, Brussels, during the 12-13 May 2015, being a good opportunity to bring together the marine scientific and operational oceanographic communities to discuss latest status and next steps for development.

The brainstorming workshop assessed strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the existing in situ component and the long-term vision for EOOS, delivering recommendations on mechanisms to overcome scientific, technological and governance barriers. The main output of this meeting is a report with key messages and recommendations that will be disseminated and presented to the wider ocean observation community and policy makers/EOOS implementors.
