The R/V SOCIB is equipped with two 1,620 HP MTU state of the art diesel engines (with 2 twin stern screw) which allow a maximum speed of 25 Kn.
Saling at cruising speed (13 Kn) the vessel has an endurance of 500 miles.
This three antenna Ashtec 3D GPS 800 ADU system installed on the R/V SOCIB provides information on both the vessel's position and its behavior (heading, pitch and roll) with high accuracy. The data from this system can be used by other instruments (such as ADCP the profiler) to make corrections on its raw data to provide more accurate information.

The ship has 1,000 + 300 + 300 liters of fresh water capaciity. A total of 1,600 liters in three tanks of stainless steel, which are continually replenishing thanks to a ship water purifier installed on board.
The catamaran has a TECNICOMAR desalination/watermaker device. Its 3 membranes allows it to transform 150 l/h of seawater into drinking water.
WASTE WATER TREATMENT EQUIPMENT
Thanks to its TECNICOMAR waste water treatment equipment, the ship operates its own black and gray waters in a ecofriendly way.
As it has 2 x 6,500 l. tanks, this ship has a capacity of 13,000 liters of fuel.
Saling at cruising speed (13 Kn), this fuel allows the ship to sail up to a distance of 500 miles.
In each of the skate engine rooms, the catamaran hosts a STAMEGNA SM300 generator, each providing 20 kWh. reaching a total of 40 kWh of power during navigation.
